The chowder is on point!
So there was some article in the Oregonian about the “chowder coast” which is an asinine thing to call a few random places that serve clam chowder along the central Oregon but here we are and I visited one and I guess I’m the big dummy.
Armed with this knowledge, the clam chowder was a must and I can attest that it’s indeed quite tasty. Decent chunks of clams which haven’t been turned to jerky and vegetables that still had a bit of bite to them without being either over- or under-cooked. Rich and creamy. Clam Chowder
Also had a fried oyster sandwich from the lunch specials menu (still $15). 6 large oysters, well breaded and expertly fried, pickles, lettuce and a spicy remoulade. Fried Oyster Sandwich
No beer was sampled, and not because I was somewhat hungover and the last thing I wanted to see was more alcohol. That’s definitely not the reason, how dare you…
The whale watching center is directly across the street and they have an upstairs observation deck, but almost as good is the upstairs dining room where you can have your grey whales with a beer or two and some of that delicious chowder.
